Description/Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair. Minor electrical work, mechanical repairs and other duties relating to maintenance are the primary duties. Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required. As required, assists in maintaining electrical wiring and emergency generator systems.  Inspects and tests equipment/systems. Performs preventative maintenance duties to all physical structures of the facility and complies with all building safety codes. This is to include facility equipment and associated controls.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
