West Florida Community Care Center (WFCCC) is an 80-bed state hospital for adults with mental illness. Managed by Lakeview Center, WFCCC serves Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties. Referrals are accepted from acute care in-patient facilities
and are then reviewed by the WFCCC admissions committee.
The Director of Nursing will customarily and regularly direct the work of nursing department Employees, including full time, part time, PRN and On Call staff. Responsible for leading and supervising assigned staff, and ensuring staff provide the highest quality
treatment and support services to clients. Provides primary recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of nursing department employees. Must be able to work flexible hours when needed and rotate call coverage
with hospital administrative staff. Perform nursing acts, functions, or tasks under the delegation and supervision of a medical doctor. Act as a lead direct care provider to others in the division/program. Function as charge nurse for inpatient units. Assure
quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following agency’s philosophies and standards of care, as well as the standards of care
set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations. Conduct case staffing's with other direct care providers in division/program, provide case specific consultation and professional insight as deemed necessary,
and assist other staff in coming up with appropriate treatment and services for their individual clients.
- Must have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in nursing
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the field of nursing and two (2) year of previous supervisory experience in the mental health field
- Must hold an active Florida license as an Registered Nurse
- Certified in CPR and maintain active certification
- Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate
