Description/Job Summary


The Clinical Director I primary duty is to customarily and regularly direct the work of at least two or more full-time employees or their equivalent.  Responsible for leading and supervising assigned staff, and ensuring staff provide the highest quality treatment and support services to clients. Authority to hire and/or fire staff  (or whose suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of other employees are given particular weight). This position requires all the “Position Functions”, “Physical Demands”, “Position Training Requirements” and “Team Participation” for Licensed Practitioner Direct Care staff. At least 50% of time must be spent performing the following Supervisor Duties: Providing administrative and clinical oversight and supervision to assigned staff per division standards; and ensuring staff are providing the highest quality treatment and support services to clients. Providing consultation and guidance to assigned staff to encourage continual improvement in performance. Documenting assigned staff’s clinical performance. Monitoring and maintaining program Performance Accountability Report(s) to meet organization and division expectations. Ensuring assigned staff are providing appropriate services; that all clients receive access to service per division requirements; that all caseloads are maintained to program/division standards; that all staff are maintaining productivity as set by program/organization; that all staff are providing appropriate co-occurring services; that all staff are submitting timely and quality documentation per program/division and legal requirements. Interviewing, selecting, and training assigned staff. Setting and adjusting assigned staff rates of pay and hours of work. Directing the work of assigned staff and apportioning work among assigned staff as appropriate. Maintaining performance records on staff for use in supervision or control. Appraising employees’ productivity and efficiency at least annually for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status. Handling employee complaints appropriately. Disciplining employees (through collaboration with Human Resources). Assisting assigned staff in planning their work and in determining the most appropriate techniques to be used. Providing for the overall safety and security of assigned employees while at work. Assisting in planning and controlling unit budget. Monitoring and implementing legal compliance measures for assigned staff. Mandatory attendance at Supervisor Workgroup, if providing clinical supervision. Participate in the SFC on-call rotation and follow procedures as written. Cover Cases, as needed. Match children with foster families.

  • Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, rehabilitation, or a related human services field (a related human services field is one in which major course work includes the study of human behavior and development)
  • Valid license as LCSW, LMHC, LMFT
  • At least two year(s) experience working with children 0-5, children over 5, adolescents who have mental health, substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders  or developmental disabilities
  • Must be able to provide individualized, integrated mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring services to meet the needs of individuals served and their families
  • Must be able to use a computer
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be insurable under LCI’s automobile plan
  • Must be able to travel locally to clients’ homes, training locations and other locations as necessary
