Description/Job Summary

Overview

The Relief Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing medical care that meets the needs of the patients at assigned sites. Maintain knowledge of the population served and awareness of the impact substance abuse and mental illness has on an individual and family. Take accurate vital signs and appropriately monitor vital signs. Provide individualized services to assigned clients which support client recovery and build resilience. Maintain awareness of the importance of language used and avoid stigmatizing language and conduct. Assess the holistic view of the client's emotional, social, behavioral, and developmental functioning within the home, school, work, and community. Attend and/or convene case staffing meetings as needed. Implement each assigned client's designated interventions and behavioral plans. Work with the client's family or designated support persons to understand the needs of the client and to help the family/support person assist in the recommended interventions.  Prepare patient for providers by taking initial vitals and assisting providers and nurses.  Maintain supplies, rooms and medications.  Clean, package and sterilize instruments and procedures supplies per OSHA standards. Cleans exam rooms and equipment per OSHA standards. Maintain patient flow in clinical areas.   Follow exposure control, blood borne and airborne pathogen plans.  Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a department, unit or team.  Perform front office duties when required.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program and hold a Florida Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Strong organizational and time management skill.
  • Must be proficient with operating general office equipment
Physical Requirements
  • Will be required travel to and from various contract locations.
  • Will be required to follow Emergency Operations Work Assignment per customer requirements. 
  • Schedules are subject to change.
  • May require working early morning, mid morning, afternoon and/or evening hours as well weekends and Holidays.
  • This position is responsible for various shifts.
  • Will be required to follow Emergency Operations Work Assignment per contract requirements.
  • Will require working early morning, mid morning, afternoon and/or evening hours as well weekends and Holidays.
  • All work will take place indoors.
  • This position requires the employee to be able to handle multiple priorities, manage anger/fear/hostility in patients, and work in close proximity to others in a distracting environment. 
  • This position requires direct contact with patients at various age levels in various settings.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, crouch, reach , carry push and pull. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
