Description/Job Summary

Overview

Primary duty is the performance of work requiring advanced knowledge in the field of social work or human behavioral studies, and to use such advanced knowledge and prior work experience to consistently exercise discretion and independent judgment in providing adoption placement and support services to families and children going through the adoption process. This position requires in-depth knowledge and advanced skills in case assessment, risk assessment, the child welfare data system, and Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN). This position will also assist with training and support services for prospective adoptive families.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or human behavioral studies, or a Master’s degree in social work or human behavioral studies.
  • Must have one year of post degree experience in social work or human behavioral services field, or must have completed a semester long internship in the social work or human behavioral services field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from the state in which you reside, must have a good driving record and be insurable under LCI’s policy.
  • Must receive passing score on the Introduction to Child Protection written assessment and field based assessment within one year of employment.                            
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear and effectively communicate with clients and co-workers.
  • Employee will be required to sit for long periods of time.
  • The position requires frequent travel.
  • Vision requirements include close and distance vision.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (position requires lifting children in and out of car).
