Description/Job Summary

Overview

The Family Support Worker provides transportation to children and families. Provides education to families regarding nutrition, infant development and parenting skills. Assess child safety and parenting skills and report to Family Services Counselor. Demonstrates appropriate interaction with children for parents and other caregivers. Arranges and supervises visits between parents and children. Assists counselors with data entry into Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN). Conducts interviews to collect general household data. Assesses data and assists families. Assists families by providing information and arrangements for social services, medical assistance, education, employment and training, daycare services, and housing. Provides supervision and necessary care for children while in their care. Ensures the Federal Funding Unit has current and accurate information for children in out-of-home cases. Utilizes office supplies, equipment and materials appropriately.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year experience in social, economic, health or rehabilitative setting, medical, nursing, child development or child care setting; OR one (1) year of post high school in education social services, economic, health, rehabilitative, medical or child care services may be substituted for the year of experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic math skills. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside, good driving record, and insurable under Center's policy.
